My iPad is loaded with ancient bookmark folders under settings in safari. Please tell me how to delete them.

Open Settings on iPad open Safari click on favorites, on the right a list of bookmark folders will appear. I have 150 bookmark folders and they are duplicated approximately five times. This is a brand new iPad Pro max that I have only had since November. I cannot delete these bookmark folders they are 7 to 20 years old in terms of when they were originally created. Containing nothing inside and when I made the bookmark bar visible , and I clicked some webpages appeared, which were ancient. Some of these are Internet explorer. I mean, does Internet explore even exist anymore?? Please help me eliminate this mess. Thank you kindly.
