How to get rid of excess echo/reverb in GarageBand on my iPad amp?

Hi, when i connect a guitar and select an amp, the guitar sound has loads of echo/reverb that i cannot get rid of. this only occurs on my ipad, it works fine on my iphone. i have checked all the settings between ipad and phone and they are the same. i have tried turning off the echo and reverb in settings but it makes no difference. any help would be much appreciated, thank you.
