iCloud on my Desktop

I updated my MacBook Pro to Sonoma 14.5 yesterday, and now old files from the "desktop" folder in my iCloud (from an old MacBook Air) are on my desktop screen, and the files that were on the desktop of this laptop are in a "desktop" folder. How can I fix this?
