Opening ZIP files on a Mac:

Single-Out this User:

Create a new Administrator user, and then try opening it up with that. If it works, then it is an issue with your current user. If not, then it is likely a corrupt file or corrupt download.

I just double click on them and they open with Apple's expander utility built into the system.

If that really does not work for you try the free Keka application.
