It seems my Ipod classic has stopped working after having it on a magnetic holder in the car for 15 minutes. Can it be brought back to life or is it gone forever?

You can check the status of the iPod's hard drive based on that video.
Even if your iPod has been damaged by a magnet, it should power on. If it turns on and displays an 'X' on the screen, you need to replace the iPod's hard drive. (Although Apple has discontinued iPod repairs, you can still find parts and fix it yourself. Be sure to wear gloves as it's easy to get your hands injured!!)
