I am unable to search my local library here. What am I missing?

With hundreds of local PDFs in my library this seemingly missing functionality is a glaring omission in apple software design. please correct me if I am wrong. I’m a fairly experienced veteran of Apple ecosystem and remain fairly exclusively within the walled garden for greater than 20 years. One of several significant problems. Search my local library function missing?
