How to fix MacBook tab key highlighting and button spamming?

My laptop has been acting weird for the past few weeks. Not sure if it was because of the newest update? Its hard to explain using words but ill do my best. Every time I'm on a different app (Discord, Google Chrome, etc) my mac will start highlighting certain texts/buttons and when i try to click out of it, it will spam that beeping noise (the sticky key one). I tried to find the solution online, which was turning off Keyboard Shortcuts & Full Access Keyboard since the tab key is involved with those. BUT the tab key still works and is highlighting everything which causes it to spam random buttons too. Another small problem I have is that whenever I try to type in the message app, my words will space out and spam some of the letters all by itself. Please help, I'm starting to think my Macbook is possessed.

Hi araikk, and welcome to the Apple (user-to-user) Community!

Re: "Tab Key Not Turning Off : My laptop has been acting weird for the past few weeks".

Wondering if restarting your Mac would help restore order. (ie: Deletes temporary files, re-establishes connections, may update recent setting changes etc, and often helps things return to normal if something is not working as expected).

Eg: Choose Apple menu > Restart, wait for the log-in screen, and log back in to check whether all is ok.

Also: you might want to check that any third-party (non-Apple) apps have the most recent updates available installed, so they remain compatible with your Mac Operating System.

All the best :-)
