Voiceover off but mac narrates

Hi! please can someone help me, I am at work and my MacBook keeps narrating but voice over is off. I tried to mute it but my job requires me to show videos and present so I cannot have it totally muted.

I have restarted it but there is still the narration. Thank you

Re: Voiceover off but mac narrates

Wondering if you have also set Mac up to speak the screen, and accidentally pressed the shortcut for that:

Eg: you can have your Mac speak text whenever you press a keyboard shortcut. (Also: you can choose to show an on-screen controller that lets you easily change the speaking rate, stop speaking and more)

Have your Mac speak text that’s on the screen - Apple Support

If so: To stop the speaking, press the keyboard shortcut again: (the default key combination is Option-Esc).

or if Mac is making announcements: You can turn that off: Apple menu > System Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content (on the right) Turn off “Speak announcements”.

More info: Have your Mac speak announcements - Apple Support

All the best :-)
