I updated to the most recent version of iOS; 17.5.1. My iPad is 6th generation (MR6y2ll/a) . I've completely deleted the app, reinstalled and still my Books won't open.
This wasn't happening before I upgraded. That said, I was on iOS 15 as I recall.

Delete one of the problem books, and re-download it (them) from iCloud, and test again.
Unfortunately, its not just 1 book. Its all books. The books do not even appear to download. I think I'm goin to reset the iPad. Thanks Marc.
