I have 4TB free on iCloud, but my Mac is FULL

My macbook is literally CRIPPLED due to storage. I can not do anything or function properly, so I had to buy extra iCloud storage and pray to god something will happen and free up mac storage, but NO.

How do I make use of those extra 4TB that I rightfully own? how does this whole optimization work? Please if you have any solution that will help me free up my mac storage!!

I am so close to quitting all of this and buying a google drive subscription. I have asolutely no problem with doing everything manually as long as it CLEAR and works properly, like google drive.

Google Drive may well serve your needs better than iCloud.

iCloud is not an offline storage system. iCloud is a synchronization service. It provides a way for your browser, your iPhone, your iPad, and your Mac to all see and use the same files. These files are all stored locally, as much as possible, on each of your devices so that access is quick and not dependent on the internet.

Documents seems to be a big area for you-- do you have "Desktop & Document Folder" turned on?

Personally, I have a 1 ounce 2TB SSD that I carry around with my MacBook for extra stuff that I don't use very often. I also use iCloud, especially with Photos, so I can show pictures to friends and family.
