iCloud Photos not syncing to MacBook Air

I took my sons Mac for me. Set him an iPad and passed every photo that he had. But still I can't see my photos on the Mac. My sons are still there even I am already logged on iCloud on the Mac. How can I fix this?

Were your photos synced with iCloud before you stared this process? You can verify that by logging into www.icloud.com using an internet browser and view your photos there.

You can then completely erase the Mac as described in What to do before you sell, give away, trade in, or recycle your Mac - Apple Support and then set it up as yours and turn on iCloud Photos on the Mac and your photos will sync with it. See: Set up and use iCloud Photos - Apple Support
