how to fix ipod plays mono out of headphone jack both speakers play but same channel as the other

Ipod plays in both speakers equally but not in stereo, any cord connected same result, playin in mono, out of the dock is fine, plays in stereo, but headphone jack is mono, any easy fix(solution) is appreciated, soft reset does nothing, pre-thanks if someone knows
