"Download Now" and "Remove Download" is BROKEN for iCloud files and folders in Finder

Hi,

using the buttons to download files and folders and remove their downloads on my Mac which are also in iCloud does not do anything anymore. I used the "remove download" button to free up space on my Mac.

For files and folders which are downloaded, there suddenly is no option anymore to remove the downloads. This renders my workflows impossible.

I run Sonoma 14.6 on a 15'' MacBook Air. I currently have both, free storage on my Mac as well as on iCloud. I do not use the Mac storage optimization from iCloud as I need full control over what files are locally available at any time.

Any ideas?

To troubleshoot iCloud file management issues on a MacBook Air running macOS Sonoma 14.6, follow these steps: restart your Mac, check iCloud status, update macOS, verify storage settings, rebuild Finder preferences, sign out and sign back in to iCloud, check iCloud Drive settings, verify Finder extensions, repair disk permissions using Disk Utility, and consult Apple Support if the issue persists. These steps should resolve the issue with iCloud file management in Finder and allow you to resolve any further issues.
