Logic Forgetting Third Party Plug-In State When Reopening Old Project Files
I am experiencing an issue when trying to work with Logic projects I created a few years ago. When I open those projects, Logic appears to have forgotten the state of all my third party sample library plugins - i.e., what virtual instrument I had loaded, the various settings for that instrument, etc. Instead, Logic just opens each plugin initialized to the default state with no virtual instrument selected.
This is extremely problematic because it means I have to go in an manually reselect the instrument/settings for each plugin in order to be able to play and hear the music I've created. As you may imagine, I haven't committed all the various settings of each plugin to memory, so the result is that my original compositions are mostly lost, except for the raw MIDI data that Logic does remember. The third party plugins where I'm seeing this happen include Native Instruments Kontact, various Spitfire Audio plugins, EastWest plugins and a handful of others.
Has anyone else experienced this problem, and if so, did you find a way to resolve it? It's incredibly frustrating, and also baffling, since computers are essentially state machines and are supposed to be good at remembering settings.
Thanks.
