I’m not able to open a book in the Books App on my MacBook Air due to getting error: "This book cannot be opened because required software cannot be downloaded."

Trying to open book.app on my MacBook. App opens but when I try to open a book I have purchased, I get a message that reads, "This book cannot be opened because required software cannot be downloaded." I have restarted the computer but still have the problem. I can open books on my iPad.
