Backup Mac Air to Cloud

I just bought a new Mac Air and want to recover the passwords and desktop and so forth from my old Mac Air.

Problem is the 24 Air has less storage and so I can’t do it in the traditional way…

How do I back the old one up to the cloud and then utilise that?

Thanks anyone for any help!!

Macs do not backup to iCloud. You can backup to an external drive using Time Machine. You can elect to sync your documents, iCloud Drive, photos, etc. using iCloud on both devices. You would then be syncing devices so deleted, changed, moved files will reflect on both.

if you’re trying to restore more data than you have space, it isn’t going to go well..
