Why won’t logic “keep tempo” when I have set to KEEP TEMPO?!

This has been a major annoyance to me and messing with my flow lately.

Im running on a M2 Max studio with Sonoma and when I drag and drop a midi file into my project it continuously changes the tempo to 120.

Why do we even have the option to “keep tempo” when it doesn’t keep my tempo..regardless of the work around exc. why have keep tempo as a option if it can’t simply KEEP THE TEMPO then I can’t just go to tempo at the top of the project and change it ..i have to line up the lines in global tracks..idk what I’m doing wrong but I was under the impression keep tempo meant just that

despite the pop up windows ignored, sample rate, whatever why can’t keep tempo selected be as simple as that andJUST KEEP the TEMPO!
