What iMac specifications are best for Logic Pro users?

Hello you all,

Ive been using a MacBook Pro from 2018 for Logic pro for some time now. However, I feel it’s time to upgrade.

It kills my motivation to write and record knowing that common problems like system buffering etc will effect my session. I often find myself finishing songs before I intend to because my laptop makes its unbearable to continue.

I use a lot of plugins. Ezdrummer for drums and Bias fx or NEURAL DSP for guitar. I also typically use stock plugins for synths.

What iMac would you recommend me to speed up my creative output? I want a machine where I can go nuts with the creative process, and have a very short distance from idea to recording. No more hassle.

Any modern M chip based Mac will run Logic, so any iMac will run it.

I updated from a 2017 iMac Pro to an M1 Max and didn't see huge performance differences, some, but slight.

The biggest gain is in compatibility with plugins and software updated for the M chips.

Be sure you have 32GB RAM minimum, that's about all there is to it.

And get the latest M chip Apple puts into an iMac at present, that will simply help with the longevity of the machine.
