RME UCX II Causes Hick-ups in Logic Pro
Hi there, I recently switched to the Fireface UCX II audio interface, which seems to cause problems with playback on Logic Pro.
When I open up Logic and hit play for the first time, it plays fine, then I stop and hit play again, and it starts to hick-up (video below), and from there I need to wait a little bit to let it "calm down" before playing again.
It sometimes causes system overload or messages about a weird sample rate (although both my driver and logic are set to 44.1k). It happens mostly in busy sessions with lots of tracks and plugins, although I'm not reaching the limits of my CPU.
When I change the output to my Mac's internal output or even use a simple Focusrite Scarlet, it doesn't happen and runs smoothly.
When running Logic Pro 11 with Rosetta, the problem doesn't occur, however, I don't want to run Logic Pro with Rosetta because it really pushes the CPU, and the fans are running like crazy, and it also introduces annoying latency in playback.
So I assume the interface has a problem when running natively on Apple Silicon.
I did some research, and it seemed to have happened to people only with Logic Pro and not with other software. I also posted about this in the RME forum, but I haven't received a solution yet. This is why I am also writing in this forum.
My specs:
Macbook Pro M1 Max
Mac OS Sonoma 14.6.1
Logic Pro 11.0.1 (I tried to downgrade to Logic Pro 10.8, but the problem persists.)
Fireface UCX II Firmware: v106 Driver v4.14 (up to date)
My audio settings on logic:
I/O Buffer size: 1024
Processing Threads: 10 (8 high performance cores)
Process Buffer Range: Large
Multithreading: Playback Tracks
Summing: High Percision
I'd appreciate any help you can provide!
