Notes data shows on iPhone and iCloud but not on Mac

I am trying to get my Mac to sync with iCloud. All show on iPhone and iCloud but on Mac the app is empty. I have checked the configuration (Settings/Name-Apple ID/iCloud/Notes), to the best of my knowledge, and both iPhone & Mac show Sync turned on. Obviously, with the data stored in iCloud, the iPhone is synching but Notes in Mac does not have any data populated.

Just need to figure out how to get the Mac to sync with the iCloud to get the data downloaded to Mac. This works with other apps, such as Photos, so not sure what else to do.

Thanks in advance for your help and time!

Never mind. After my Notes sitting open for 15 minutes, it finally populated. I know with iPhoto I can for sync but is there a way to do this with Notes? These were all Notes that have been populated on my phone and cloud for a long time and not sure why it didn't populate in Notes on the Mac (which I have used in the past). I actually started right clicking trying to start a new note and nothing would pop up until the app populated with data from iCloud.

Not sure if any info can be provided to explain why as this just seemed strange. Again, thanks for your help.
