So, if your email is in your "Sent" folder, then it made it to point D, because the iCloud server sent a message back to Mail saying it got the email and is moving it onwards. If it didn't make it to the recipient, something else went wrong that is probably not a problem with Mail.

It is - but this one is waaay better...
Are the emails actually in your Sent folder? Newer versions of Mail have a feature where you can set a delay before the email is actually "sent", so you can change your mind and cancel sending.I believe the default is five or 10 seconds.
If you are one of those people (especially on their phone) who quits programs when not using them, and if you send emails and then quit the app before the email is actually sent and moved from your Outbox to your Sent folder, then the email simply vanishes as if never written.
So, are these emails in your Sent folder? If so, then they have been sent from your Mail client to your outbound mail server and thus onwards for delivery. If they never made it after that, something else is wrong.
Log into iCloud and check your icloud emails there to see if they are actually delivered.
Have done that , says delivered but recepient did not receive ?
I would check to see if you entered the right email address.
Double checked, also sent test email to my other email address and came through OK ?
That's a great graphic.
