can't turn off software monitoring in Logic Pro 11

im under the general audio tab and can see the software monitoring checkbox however it is grey and unable to be tampered why is this happening?

Logic Pro X - input monitoring during playback Title says it all - I can hear input monitoring if nothing is playing - but, if I press the play button then the input monitor is shut off (even though the little "I" button is colored/on/engaged). If I record the input monitoring works as expected. If not playing back tracks input monitoring is on. But, input monitoring is off during playback. I just want to rehearse a bit before I record - can't hear anything because input monitoring is mysteriously shut off during playback. Yeah, anyway, how do you keep input monitoring on during playback? (if that's possible)

Input monitoring issues after Logic 10.7.5 upgrade After automatic update, Logic 10.7.5 isn't working the same anymore. I can't monitor any of my tracks when trying to record. In older projects, I can hear everything that was previously recorded but if trying to overdub a track or creating a new track, i can't hear anything even though i can see the signal is being received. Another unexpected behavior is that when opening any of my previous projects, all audio tracks have the input monitoring automatically enabled... not just the track I have selected.
