Voice Control Commands Settings Error

I am trying to add some custom commands to Voice Control by going to Settings > Accessibility > Voice Control and then clicking the Commands… button. When I click the button a dialog box appears with the following text. Settings Error Extension process Accessibility (1098) exited. When I click OK the Voice Control page is blank. I have tried restarting my Mac and with no other applications open I get the same error but with a different number. I am running the latest version of macOS Sonoma on my 2022 Mac Studio.

Mac Studio, macOS 14.6

Hi bcsternberg,

welcome to the Appole (user-to-user) Community!

Re: "Voice Control Commands Settings Error :

Seems deleting `Library/Preferences/com.apple.SpeakSelection.plist` has solved a similar situation for some people:

Eg: using the Finder's "Go" menu, scroll down to choose "Go to Folder..." and type in: ~/Library/Preferences then find com.apple.SpeakSelection.plist

(Then check if all is ok ... if help still needed: Restart the Mac)

Eg: This webpage shows one example of a solving similar issue by deleting .plist as above:

Thank you again for replying, and for letting us know more about your needs. I trust contacting Apple's Accessibility Support Team may help.

Seems those who rely on Voice Control do gain a lot of expertise in using it, and may share their findings. Eg: One Voice Control user reported experiencing unexpected difficulties and discovered they were caused by running out of storage space. Unknowingly, they had downloaded unneeded music files due to a setting in place.

All the best!
