I am not able to read a book on my computer

I purchased a book on my computer, and when I clicked the "Read" button all it did was flash what I can only assume is the cover or starting page to my book, before going straight back to the page I was on, with that black "Read" button. I tried quitting the app, waiting a day, signing out of my Apple ID and nothing seems to work. I need this book for school and it won't open on my computer
