Apple Music volume issues

Using iPhone 13 Pro Max and While listening to music on my JBL WiFi speaker the volume slider on the iPhone goes automatically from whatever is set to approximately 10%. The volume on the JBL does not change, but as soon as I try to make it a little louder or quieter from the iPhone, it suddenly drops to barely audible.
