This seems odd - in Mac OS 14.6.1 , when I plug my MacBook into a charger, the battery icon in the top bar changes to plugged in, but 'Not Charging' - but if I open the Battery Settings, the battery is 'Charging' - this is confusing and has led to my battery simply running out on a couple of occasions.

If your MacBook has intel processor, resetting SMC could solve your battery related issue.
Reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support
