My HomePod is making a very loud "Brfrrr" or farting-type sound. It just began a month or so ago and is random. I have done restarts and hard restarts, etc yet the sound comes back. It occurs when music is and is not playing. I need a fix for this issue or Apple should replace the unit

Try this method:
Start by unplugging HomePod for over 24 hrs
plug back in and then proceed with the hard reset:
After you reset HomePod, you can set up HomePod again.
This should hopefully stop the loud sounds from happening. Good luck!
That procedure is what fixed mine and has for others, so it’s worth a shot. Not saying it’s guaranteed.
If this is regarding the OG HomePod, it’s a discontinued product and its warranty expired years ago.
It seems that Apple support is just ignoring this issue!
Same thing started happening with one of my HomePod minis last night. Loud vibrating sound at full volume. Will try to reset it and see if it makes any difference.
Apple should recall defected HomePod, I got no support even reported my case to their customer service.
Spent $10 just to get a confirmation from authorized service center saying the main circuit board is out of order.
Apple’s customer service act like seriously care about the reported issue, even ask me to provide S/N.
Unfortunately, response at authorized service is to offer me turn the defect unit in to qualify paying ~USD 260 for a refurbished unit with 90 days warranty.
That procedure been tried many times and wasted. The unit was confirmed by Apple’s authorized service agent and simply my filed case was ignored.
Maybe try to contact Apple customer Sat confirming if that is the Apple policy to drop their own defect product to customer’s own.
Mine is tested by Apple authorized service center, just dropped no intention to report the issue as product defect. I’m reporting this to Apple customer support again and see how they deal with a real faulty one.
I have a pair bought over a year ago, one started with that same symptom and randomly beeps at night. I have no idea what went wrong and reset several times trying to solve it assuming some setup was wrong at my end.
However, all my work did not correct the HomePod 2nd Gen so I sent it to Apple authorized repair and at there concluded the logic board was faulty. Apple customer service basically told me the unit’s issue was reported after the warranty period expired, so that becomes my own issue and Apple’s not responsible for it.
Funny today, my second one of the pair bought starts to run into the same symptom like playing music at its own at full volume.
I’d say my confidence and trust on Apple is all gone.
