How do I fix incorrect Screen Time on iPhone after iOS 18 update?

Background app refresh is a push and pull service. When you disable background refresh, you just disable the app from pulling data. The data can still be pushed to the app from the developers servers. Delete the app for 72 hours and watch all the numbers change.

Anyone else still having this problem? It’s February now and my screen time has been unusable for months now.

I know that people in Silicon Valley are working hard to maximize my screen time, but it’s getting pathetic.

Yes I’m still experiencing the screen time bug. I updated my phone to 18.3 because it said it fixed bugs but nope it didn’t fix the screen time . bug. I need to be able to shut my phone off at night. I don’t feel comfortable leaving it on. But when I shut it off, it says I used like settings for nine hours, even though it was actually my phone was off for nine hours. I believe this bug was first reported in September and they still have not done anything.

You know, you would think that is it, but it is not. It is that nobody in this feed wants to NOT turn their phones off at night. You have to keep your phone on to do it, but we all like it to be shut off.

This is really getting old. Need to be able to manage three children’s screen time and it keeps freezing. Apple has dropped the ball with this update. 16 pro max is an expensive pos **** if it doesn’t work properly.

My phone was off for 19 hours. When I dared to shut it off last night, it was at 10% battery left. I didn’t get to charge it until 7 PM tonight. I just took it off the charger a few minutes ago. This is getting so frustrating and annoying. I’m going to have to bring my iPhone 8 (which I can shut off ) to church tomorrow just in case I don’t have a ride home.

This is ridiculous! My 16 pro will randomly fill in screen time when it’s off, but when it’s on, it doesn’t record screen time at all for days! The last more or less accurate screen time entry for me was February 19th! After that there was nothing for three weeks and then randomly it’s 4 hours straight while my phone has been turned off. Can’t believe Apple is not doing anything about it. So disappointed

So I’m having a bit different problem here. I have a limit for exp. Snapchat for 1hr a day. But after just 15-20min of use, it is already locked. It has happened for the 3rd day in a row now. The issue only appeared after updating to IOS 18.3.1.

Plese also fix this problem.

The iOS is up to 18.3.2 and still hasn’t fixed this bug. I have an iPad Mini, that I still refuse to update to the latest iPad operating system because I believe even the iPads have this bug. I need to shut my iPad off at night so that’s why I’m not updating it yet.

I have a 45-minute screen limit for messages, and the app shut down after hardly 20 minutes. In settings, the number was still going up even though the app was closed. Same thing happened to my 30-minute time limit on games, which increased to over an hour. When I looked at my hourly overview, it said I had been on it for an hour and a half in the span of 12:00-1:00, which is (as far as I know) impossible (?). Nothing has fixed itself, even though my background app refresh is turned off and I restarted my phone. I'm running iOS 18.5, but still doesn't seem fixed even in this version. :/

same for me. whenever i turn my phone on in the morning it always tells me i’ve been using my device for more than 5,000 hours. it usually says that i’ve been using my photos app or whatever for most of that time and it’s seriously annoying me, because one of the apps it keeps automatically glitching with means i can’t use anything in the entertainment category like netflix.

over nine months since this post and screen time is still entirely useless. Apparently I used my phone for over ten hours in my sleep last night yet the app with the most use so far shows 35 minutes of time.

seems like counting the time the thing is displaying the clock in standby mode. lol.

I am dumbfounded with what is happening. After reading all of your replies I realize I am not the only one encountering this problem. My screen time says I spent 5 hours on my phone during the day when I have been out and left my phone at home as not to get distracted. I came home to check and saw that number. I also have an issue with the time limit I have set not staying on for the time it has been giving e.g. I have an hour time limit on instagram and I went to click the app and it immediately reached its limit. I went to check my screen time and it hadn’t even registered me going on the app. Apple this is not what I was expecting when I purchased your phone please fix this issue/problem.

Same problem for me, but I always keep my phone on at night, everything was working perfectly fine until yesterday night when I had 11 hours of screen time on “settings”

how is it possible to fix this? It’s very annoying

Same here.

Only iPhone 12 mini of my daughter is currently affected. She is not amused. 😅
