Deleting new messages on Apple Watch deletes all the message on iPhone

Mines off and it still happens.. when I delete messages on my watch it deletes them from my phone..

I like them deleted off my watch cause it kills the battery, and I don’t need them on my watch but like getting the alerts on my watch..

It’s so annoying!!

Has this been solved yet because it’s incredibly annoying?

I just updated and had I known I would not…..

I don’t want to keep messages on my watch, but I do on my phone.

I’ve never had this problem with any watch- apple, Fitbit, garmin….

APPLE, I LOVE THIS!!!!! Messages on an Apple Watch FINALLY work the same way they work on a Mac, iPad, iPhone and even an iPod Touch. The lack of consistency in how the watch worked has been driving me crazy for years!

Prior to downtown iOS 18 I could delete messages from my Apple Watch and they’d remain on my phone. Now when I delete from my watch messages delete from phone. This is not happening on my husbands phone and we have everything the same! Please help!

Me too. I found out the hard way. I couldn’t figure out what happened to my messages on my iPhone until I started reading this thread. Now I know if I delete them on my watch it deletes them from my iPhone. I do not want my messages deleted from my iPhone only my watch! I hope they come up with a fix And how do we restore deleted text messages?

I’m frustrated also with my messages being deleted on my iPhone when I delete them on my watch! Who in the world wants all their messages on their watches?! All I can say is that this issue better get fixed!

That explains why the texts Ive deleted manually arent being deleted from the server end. I have messages in icloud turned off too but usually when u delete texts manually they delete from the server end and it hasnt been doing that. I have iphone se 2022 and it started in ios 18.2 and still there in 18.3.1 I keep reporting it on the feed back page

I totally get this. Idk why but I only wanted my Husband and Mom to have their messages on my watch. But on my phone I don’t care. It was habit for me to delete off watch. Luckily I didn’t delete either of their messages off my watch/ phone. OCD.

Yes, Apple please give us the option to delete messages on our watches and still have them on the phone.

I like NOT having my watch cluttered with messages and typically respond with the phone, in the past, knowing they were there. Please re-institute this feature.

I’ve been waiting for the fix too! I absolutely hate having all these messages on my watch that don’t need to be there. It’s crazy that they can’t just fix this even just put an option on there so the people that do enjoy keeping everything can, but those of us who don’t, do not have to.

This is how I would have expected it to work. Any reason why you'd want messages on your phone but not your watch?
