iCloud Lost all of my files

I have been working on couple of projects on Xcode for years, recently wanted to store my files on iCloud for both redundancy and space management but issues started with xcode being unable to locate ciritical files due to those files being moved to icloud drive. I waited for iCloud to sync files but it was unable to do so. So I wanted to revert back to local storage by switching off Desktop and Documents Folders on iCloud settings, now all the files on my local storage are gone which is to be expected, but when I want to retrieve them from iCloud Drive it just can not find the files, I mean files are there but they are all corrupted and they can not be downloaded. This is a total nightmare for me
