Mac Mail app in Sequoia won't show single page PDF previews inline when composing

After upgrading to Sequoia, the mail app will no longer show single page PDF previews inline when composing a message, and will just show the icon. Right clicking on the icon has the "view in place" option grayed out. Having these PDF attachment previews is helpful to our workflow, so hoping to find an option to get this back. Once the message has been sent, the attachment preview will show inline, just not when composing the original massage.

Other image file types appear to show the previews just fine, and trying to use terminal commands to reset the behavior so far has been unsuccessful.

The view in place for single-page PDFs has been an integral part of my workflow for years. In a single glance, it is so incredibly easy to see the files I'm about to send off to vendors and quickly check to make sure all is correct. Same with proofs for clients: I can see that I have the correct one going to the correct person INSTANTLY. No extra steps required.

I understand you can highlight and hit spacebar, but that's not improving the workflow - it's adding extra unnecessary steps. At the very least, give us a toggle option somewhere in mail that allows this feature to be ON for those who rely on it. Heck, I'd take VIEW IN PLACE over what we've been left with.

And, why-oh-why leave the viewable PDF just for recipients?? Where is the sense in that?

I can already count on my making mistakes without this feature - so, thanks for nothing, Apple!

(And don't even get me started on how the "me too" button is still trying to process the fact that I hit it before I even started typing this.)

Another OS update today April 2025 and still Appkecare incapable of addressing this PDF viewing problem. This is what's so horrible with Apple. They let be suffer with silence. They make millions of dollars. Create forums where people can share their technical and work flow issues and they respond with sweet F A. Not a single peep out of them. So much for brand loyalty. The big caring cool Apple people. It's just nonsense. A company of robots without ears and empathy. If they cared about their clients they'd give themselves a voice and let us know why this is a problem and what they are doing to address it. But they are not and that's B S.
