Apple CarPlay Not Working in iOS 18.0

I am using iPhone 13 and recently I have updated to iOS 18.0. Since that day, maps are showing blank on the car when I connect through the Apple CarPlay, and a message is displayed after a few minutes on the car screen stating the location information is not available. When I start the car immediately maps are turning to blank on the car display.

What exactly is the issue you are experiencing with CarPlay? Since you haven't provided specific details about the problem, I recommend trying to reestablish a fresh connection, as this resolves the issue most of the time. Also, ensure that CarPlay is allowed under Content & Privacy Restrictions in your settings. Additionally, you can check out this resource that discusses CarPlay issues: 9 Ways to Fix Apple CarPlay Not Working. It might offer some solutions that apply to your situation. Hope this helps

I haven’t jumped back on from my original post I started however still using a wireless 2024 adapter ~ When I turned vocal Shortcuts off, everything seemed to work normal. And also deleting the phone repairing it to the head, etc. I did the whole shebang at the beginning..

I’m gonna try USB to C cable direct from the head unit.

The adapter is great. The only thing that stinks is there’s a lag. Maybe I’m just impatient who knows.. Hope this helps

@Apple you have a problem with iOS 18 and 18.01. These updates have caused different kinds of issues to AppleCarplay users depending on what IPhone and car we have. In my case, with IPhone 15 and a Mazda, CarPlay only works wired but not through bluetooth. I’ve tried all tips and suggestions and nothing has worked to fix the problem that started with iOS 18.01 update. @Apple you need to fix the problem.

I searched the web, and tried everything, including the “reset settings” option. My fix was way easier. Go into the settings on your vehicles navigation screen. Scroll down to AppleCarPlay. Click on; Manage Apple CarPlay Devices. From there, you can add a device. This should solve 95% of the connection issues that people are running into. I hope this helps.

It’s more than just not connecting or tinny sounds. It’s minor glitches too. Example timer goes off I used to be able to stop it or reset it. Now I have to take my phone out because the input is non responsive even though the buttons are on the screen. Another, some people, including me, have a dedicated button to access an assistant google or Siri. This button no longer works. When an alarm goes off the buttons are cut off and aren’t visible fully. Nor are they responsive.

I don’t have vocal shortcuts enabled. I have the other settings all enabled. I’ve had zero issues connecting or hearing things. I’ve reset, deleted and re-paired everything I could. No go.

it was all perfectly fine prior to 18.

I had this same problem and doing a "Reset to factory settings" on the car radio is what fixed it for me.

I have three GM vehicles (two 2017 Chevy Cruzes and a 2019 Chevy Traverse) that I had been using with my iPhone XR via CarPlay for years. When I upgraded to an iPhone16 Pro the Traverse and one of the Cruzes worked immediately, but the second Cruze wouldn't recognize the phone via CarPlay no matter what I did. After two days of fiddling I finally did "Reset to factory settings" after which it instantly recognized the new phone.

I don’t understand what’s taking them so long to fix it. I have tried everything in the world and nothing fixed it . The only solution I found was to buy a Samsung phone . And I took my cat to the dealer and it cost me 200.00 to find out there was nothing wrong with the car . I guy from Apple said there was nothing wrong with the update and I should take my cat to the dealer . Thanks Apple almost $2000.00 dollars later .

I have a iPhone 13 Pro Max and a 2020 Kia Forte GT-Line.

Maps works for me, but I can’t listen to music. My Spotify “plays” but you can’t hear anything. I had to turn my car off, and my Bluetooth off to make it work, but slight movements of my phone will then make it play the media FROM MY PHONE lol. It’s makes no sense. And sometimes it won’t let me switch back to the radio.

If I’m using it just for maps, I can’t lock my screen or it shuts down everything. I even bought a new Apple USB cable. Nothing. My next step is to try and see if maybe it’s my cars USB port, but I can’t imagine that would be it given other people are dealing with this too.
