Macbook Pro disconnected from icloud that iphone and Ipad use

I think this has all happened from updating Apple Passwords on different devices. But I am now assured that the Apple Password that I have used to sign into iCloud is the same on the 3 devices (MBP, iPhone, iPad). But still the MBP does not share iCloud with the other two.

I am at a loss. I don't know the system all that well. 6 months ago they all worked together. I want that functionality back. The iPad and the iPhone are connected.

Let me re-phrase:

  1. What button do you push or click on that doesn't do what you expect? For instance, "I click on a file in iCloud Drive and the system re-boots." Give specifics. "Photos from the phone don’t come over" really isn't much information.
  2. In Settings, for each device, do you have iCloud Photos or iCloud Drive or both turned on?
  3. When you go to iCloud.com, do you see your pictures there? Do you see your files in iCloud Drive, there?
  4. Do you have "Optimize" storage for either Photos or iCloud Drive turned on for each of your three devices?
  5. What percentage of your iCloud storage is free? You can see that on the Mac at System Settings>Apple ID>iCloud. Mine says, for instance, 106.4 of 200GB used. What does yours say?
  6. What percentage of your Mac's storage is free? You can see that on the Mac at System Settings>General>Storage. Mine says, for instance, 878.3 of 2TB used. What does yours say?
  7. On your Mac, is your Photos Library located in the Pictures folder, or is it somewhere else?

Can you give us some more specific information?

  • What is it that isn't working? That is, what do you do and what happens?
  • Do you use iCloud Photos or iCloud Drive or both?
  • What do you see at iCloud.com?
  • Do you have "Optimize" storage for either Photos or Drive turned on for each of your three devices?
  • What percentage of iCloud storage is free?
  • What percentage of your Mac's storage is free?
  • Do you use an external drive?

Having this information will help us figure it out…

  1. It's not a button that doesn't act right. It's all these subtle things. The MB is isolated from the iPhone and iPad, photos, notes, passwords are not shared. The MB has its stuff. The iPhone and iPad share their stuff.
  2. The phone has photos, drive and notes on. The iPad has photos, drive and notes on. The MacBook has photos, drive and notes on.
  3. When I go to iCloud.com I see the photos and files that are shared by the iPhone and iPad. Nothing from the MacBook was visible.
  4. I found that both the iPad and iPhone had optimize on for photos. I could not find optimize for drive on them. The MacBook does not appear to optimize anything.
  5. The iPad MacBook and Phone show 15.4 of 200Gb.
  6. Mine is 54.28 Gb of 499.96 Gb used.
  7. I am not sure how to get to /pictures. Finder does not have a link.

I just noticed something odd on the MacBook. I went in Finder to go to iCloud Drive. I needed to login to see the drive.
