How to disable automatic window snapping / resizing on MacOS 15.0 Sequoia

Since Sequoia, my Mac behaves badly. I move a window around and suddenly it becomes full size. Then I resize it again, move it to the center and the size is changed again. It is EXTREMELY annoying and not predictable. Apparently it's some auto snapping brought in from iPads (where it somehow could make sense) but for a normal mouse/keyboard user it's breaking the Apple Human Interface Guidelines. It's irritating, confusing and not even logical.

Thats not how I want my mac to be. I have searched for a button or option to disable this but I have found nothing. The only option would be to downgrade which is a major task.

You might try going into System Settings > Desktop & Dock. Under the Windows subsection, Turn off feature called, "Tile by dragging windows to screen edges".

Ok, lucky you... ;-)

In my case, a Mac Mini M2 (2023) and also upgrading from Sonoma. The 3 options outlined by @Randall_2023 (and many others in every forum I've checked) are disabled, but still the snapping happens as soon as I start dragging any window.

Each computer is different from the other

Each user's configuration is unique to the user

Each use's computer will have uniquely combinations of installed Third Party Applications which is not common to all

So, attempting to add weight to this question " (and many others in every forum I've checked) " does not do it in this specific question

Thank you. I understand that this annoying "feature" has been a part of Windows for quite a while. There was a time that Microsoft copied Apple, rather than the other way around. I prefer the original arrangement. Now, if we can just solve the disappearing "Choose your own password" option, Safari will be usable again.

I didn't like this new feature either, and I was able to stop it by selecting System Settings > Desktop & Dock, and then under the Windows subsection, turning off the feature called "Drag windows to menu bar to fill screen". After doing this, I could still drag the window to the edge to tile it (which is fine) but it no longer fills the screen when I moved the window to the top menu bar (which is annoying). Strangely, if I close the system settings and then go back in again, that option is turned on again, but it doesn't seem to do it any more so hopefully it stays deactivated and I don't have to repeatedly turn it off.

this doesn't help - and none of the suggestions in this thread help, when using external monitor - snapping still happens there.

the only thing that helped is holding SHIFT when dragging a window - then it stops snapping.

But there's no way to set this as a default behavior.

I've had the same problem, tried the options in system settings but without success, as some other users report too. Then i noticed that I'm running an app as startup item called OneMenu.app, which i only use rarely for locking my keyboard when cleaning my mac.

But the app also adds window snapping, which I wasn't aware of. It triggers almost instantly when moving a window (the very annoying behavior other users report here). Macos integrated tiling (and tiling with Magnet.app for example) are way more precise and useful.

Maybe you're running OneMenu as well? Try to close it :)

I have MacOS 15.3.2 Sequoia on MacBook Pro and I have everything off on System Settings > Desktop & Dock.

"Tile by dragging windows to screen edges". Nothing and still have an application that automatically will resize the screen to a smaller size? What else can I do or is it the application?
