This happens randomly. Sometimes the sound for a text will work and other times it won’t. I have to to turn my phone off and back on again for the sound notifications to work again. Then later, the sound will stop working again. I have done all the troubleshooting. And that still does nothing. Hopefully Apple is aware of the bug and will create a fix.

I had the same issue on my iPhone 14Pro running iOS 18.2. Started after going to iOS 18 as far as I can tell. Thank you to those who responded with their conversation from Apple Support. I triple checked all settings and even tried to create a custom focus to no avail.
The solution that worked was the suggestion to go to Settings>Accessibility>Face ID & Attention, and then turn off Attention Aware Features. This finally solved the problem for me.

Things got a little better recently, some notifications worked. However, since the last iOS update to iOS 18.2.1, iOS once again does not send any notifications about new emails. Acoustic signals and vibration patterns do not work.
Deleting and reinstalling the app does not help. Removing all accounts, deleting the app, restarting the device and then reinstalling everything doesn't help either.
The user cannot repair this issue by themselves. It is imperative that the developers make improvements quickly. Trust in the app has already been severely damaged, and this is now spreading to trust in the operating system and development.
Agreed! All notifications worked perfect for me prior to iOS 18. Also, I think it’s a bit ridiculous that there isn’t a switch to turn off all focus’. Like a master, all off for eternity until I turn them back on.
I'm having this same issue (at least with imessage, I don't have my mail push through). and I did the face ID and attention thing (stated above) and it seems to have fixed it for some of my contacts, but not all.
I've had spurts of NO notifications sounds, say for text and calls and it now been happening again. I work in Medicine and missed VITALLY IMPORTANT text and call notification sounds. I'm 100% sure it's not my settings etc. Apple, this is unacceptable. There also seems to be a significant increase of this PROBLEM. I've moved from android to Apple for reliability but this HUGE PROBLEM is causing me to want to switch back to Android. I think there very well may be a higher incidence of this problem when I'm wearing the apple watch. How can one complain and give feedback that Apple would actually pay attention to and do something about???!!! I can not tolerate this VERY significant unstable problem.
How do you tell if your do not disturb focus is turned on? There's no on/off option. Also, to create a workaround focus, do you have to add every person in your contacts? Also, rhetorical: is this how humanity is meant to spend it's time?
I was afraid this wouldn't be a one size fits all fix. At least it's a band aid for me until they (hopefully) figure out the root cause. I just can't take advantage of my smartwatch or home automation apps for now.
You tell us not to blame the update and then recommend that we always back up our phones before updating??

Notifications has somehow started working again.
Recent update has taken my sound notifications for receiving phone calls and text messages. I have checked all settings turned off and back on and nothing. Please advise

I'm experiencing the exact same thing. I work in medicine and missing VERY important calls and text messages! This is absurd
I wish someone at Apple could help me understand the value of having an actual phone (let alone an iPhone) if it can’t let me know someone is trying to reach me.
