HomePod MQHW2 - Stuck in an download/update loop

I have a Home setup containing 3 HomePods - all generation 1 and none of them configured as a stereo pair.


2 of the 3 HomePods updated to 18 without issue but I have one that is stuck in a download/update loop trying to go from 17.5 to 18. I have been through all the usual reset, remove from home, turn off soundcheck, remove from iCloud, 2.5Ghz WiFi, add into new room etc. and even tried to update through a different phone and iPad associated to another iCloud account.


The 2 HomePods that updated were model MQHW2B/A and the one that refuses to update is MQHW2.


I am reaching out to see if anyone has managed to get an 18 update to stick with this model of HomePod and any advice on how this was achieved.
