It feels like the 16 pro drains battery like crazy. Mine has gone from 95% to 81% in 38 minutes of light use and some picture taking. Phone also gets really hot when using the camera!
Anyone else experiencing this?
iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 18
I got my phone on Monday 30th September (delivered at nearly 9pm) and it took me until the following day to transfer everything from my 14 Pro Max, so I didn't start using it properly until Tuesday 1st October. For 2 days, I experienced this issue (excessive battery drain) and I became particularly annoyed because my phone was seemingly permanently attached to a charger and the battery percentage wasn't going up. As of last night I was considering sending it back as other posts on here suggested that Apple support was reporting no issues with the phones even though almost everyone was experiencing the same fault.
I did notice that there is a software update available - and although it is just 18.0 by all accounts this update is just for new iPhone 16's (all variances). It says it's a security update but once installed, my battery life is significantly better - to the extent that at nearly 11.30am, it's at 91% and I've used it for work calls; listening to an audio book for 30 minutes and playing some games since 6.30am when I took it off a normal overnight charge.
Maybe it was the update or maybe something else (although I didn't do or change anything else in my normal phone usage/routine) but the battery drain issue seems to have been resolved.

I bought a phone that was advertised to have more battery life than the older iPhones. That is currently not the case, so I patiently wait for the iOS upgrade that would possibly fix it.
Facebook, instagram etc is not even installed, as discussed before. I have reported this behavior to Apple and awaiting the fix.

I don't think you understand. The fix is not (except in some very rare circumstances) an iOS update.

I bought an iPhone 16 Pro also, and its battery life is fabulous! far better than any iPhone I have ever owned. I charge overnight, every night, with automatic backup and Optimized Battery Charging enabled. By the end of the day on most days it is still above 60%. Sometimes, with heavy use, it is down to 4%.
The fix for a very small subset of users may well be the next version of iOS. It’s expected to be released when the next iPhone models are released in the fall 2025. Time marches on. You’ve experienced this for months, you’re in the home stretch and the finish line is just about 90 days away.

Well, about 500 million users are luckier than you. What does that tell you? And, as I already said, there will never be a fix for something that isn’t broken. If you can’t accept the fact that this is a problem with YOUR PHONE you will never resolve it. None of those steps apply to me I am afraid (as stated many times before - hence why we are in this thread)
500 million iPhone 16 pro users, wow that is a lot more users than sales figures for iPhone 16 Pro but.. what do I know. I am probably "holding it wrong".
Battery usage bugs can affect more than 1 model or one year’s models. There are small numbers of iPhone 13, 14 and 15 users still reporting abnormal battery consumption. However, compared to sales numbers for those models, it adds up to easily over 500 million users.
There are still multiple avenues to pursue, but without your participation, it’s pointless and impossible to move forward towards a solution, which might be iOS 26.

Yes it sucks. Now I am thinking why I traded in my iphone 13. It used to click better pictures with rich color tone than 16 pro. Disappointed with this purchase

Same with mine, I have 14 pro max before and it would go up to 2 days on one charge, with 16 pro I’m not confident to get out of the house if the charge is less than 80% cause it drains so quickly.

My battery has also been draining extremely quickly relative to the same average use on my 14pro. This performance has been completely unacceptable and the lack of response is alarming.
