Apple watch series 10 not charging

Hi I recently purchased the series 10 watch and everything good until the last few days where it refuses to charge. I have tried the old cable that I had with the series 6 (which still works - I have tested it), tried the new cable that came with the watch, tried soft and hard re boot. When i do this it works for about 1 minute then stops charging again. Is there anything I have missed or is it a faulty watch?

Mystery solved. It had nothing to do with the cable or charger. Unlike my old watch, THIS watch supports optimized charging. So it was not charging (even though showing the charging icon) because of its optimization algorithm. So not a bug, just a "feature" of which I was unaware.

I charge mine overnight. Sometimes no problem, sometimes it charges to 100%, then drains to 56% then stops charging altogether. And when at 56% sometimes I can take it off the charger, put it back and charging starts, sometimes it doesn't. I have the cable that came with the watch, a Native Union cable, the cable from my last watch (Series 8). I've tried connecting each of those to various chargers, including direct to my PC (that worked once but not since).

Yesterday I had to re-boot my watch to get it to charge, today just remove from the charger and put it back. Tonight I will charge my watch to 100% and not leave it on charge overnight and see if it drains without being on the charger.

The watch was fine when I first bought it (4th Feb 25) and about a week later failed to charge but then was fine until after the last OS update.

Glad it is not just me. I don't really want to have to buy yet another charger (wall plug) to add to my collection of chargers (I mainly use an Anker charger with two old style usb connectors and two USB c which has been charging my iPhone 16 Pro Max - and my previous 14 Pro Max - an iPad Mini and an iPad without problem)

This is the same thing that’s happening to mine. I decided to come to see if other people were having charging issues with their 10. I plugged it, this morning at 13% and let it charge all day. I just took it off the charger over 12 hours later and it’s at 56%. This is after multiple times I’ve plugged it to charge at 5-15% and leave it plugged in for 3 or more hours and it doesn’t charge at all. I’m using the charging puck that came in the box. This is my 6th Apple Watch, and the only one I’ve ever had a problem with. I’ve hard restarted it multiple times in the past and it seems to just not charge randomly. I now have to make sure I see the charging ring before I walk away from the charger to make sure it’s charging and numerous times I come back and it’s not charged. It’s getting really annoying. Im starting to think I may need to make an appointment to get it looked at. I’m very familiar with hard resetting phones, iPads and watches and I’ve owned ever generation of iPhone, since I stood in line in 2007 to get my first one. I replace my phones every single year. My Apple Watch Ultra 1 was the first time I had a watch for 2 cycles and didn’t replace it until the 10 came out. I wanted to go back to the smaller watch because the Ultra is just too big to sleep with. I track my sleep religiously and I really just need this thing to work.

Your watch should notify you that it will be charging fully at a certain time

It does -- poorly. The green circle doesn't close, but it's only on the screen for a moment and if you don't know to look for it you won't notice it (I didn't). As far as the "tap the watch to show the charging screen" -- that's just wrong. It brings up the login screen, not the charging screen.

Overall I'd rate this a very poor implementation. But I least I understand now what's going on. Now I need to decide if it annoys me enough that I turn it off. My schedule is very irregular and I question if the optimization algorithm will help or just be inconvenient.

My watch is not charging at all unless I restart it, even when it is below 50%. It is only a month old and I’ve had the problem for the last week. I had to restart twice tonight. Apple support person could do nothing but read from a script, and could not answer a single question. I miss the support people who knew something. They are long gone.
