HomePod takes over music control from iPhone during Airplay
Hi,
I play music by streaming from my iPhone to my HomePod via Airplay. Works perfectly fine. But usually, after an hour or so, my iPhone 'loses' the control for playing music. I'll see the album art of a song that played a while ago and the music is paused. To see again which music is playing and to regain control, I'll need to select "control other speakers" and select HomePod. Now I'm controlling my HomePod directly instead of my iPhone Airplaying to my HomePod.
But I don't want this. I want my HomePod to behave like a dumb Airplay speaker and I want my iPhone to stay in control forever. Is there a way I can prevent this transfer of control from happening?
What I've tried so far:
- iPhone -> Settings -> General -> Airplay and Continuity -> disable 'Transfer to Homepod' (although I'll never came close with my iPhone to my HomePod)
- iPhone -> Home -> Home settings -> tap on my name -> Apple Music -> disable 'Use in Home'
FYI: I don't want to disable Handoff completely because I'll lose too many other useful features.
Any ideas or tips? Or accept my first world problem and live with it?
