autocomplete, but don't send it

In using safari, I often want to autocomplete something, like "devel" offers a few things, one of which is developer.apple.com. What I would like is for it to complete that choice, but leave me in the address bar, so I can add the next part.

So my ideal situation is I type:

devel<down arrow a few times><choose this one>/down<it offers "downloads" probably, I choose it><ENTER>

Is there any way to do this?
