iCloud Mail is no responding when selected. All I get is the iCloud Mail logo with 3 blinking dots below, but the System Status says it's available.

Trying to initiate iCloud Mail on my 2013 27" iMac which, until yesterday was working, but now I'm getting the iCloud Mail logo with 3 blinking dots below. System Status shows it as 'Available', but Safari won't play ball.My iMac is using OS Catalina 10.15.7. Any idiot proof ways to get it back on line?
