Can no longer change text color in markup in Photos app on iPhone

This worked for me…it isn’t easier though, it’s another step. Who makes these changes???? Do they actually use it? More things are being hidden and getting harder to find…this isn’t progress, it’s perturbation.

Thank you for this and yes that worked before the latest 18.1.1 update (or whatever the most recent on is). It's definitely not a user-doesn't-know-how issue but more of a glitch that just shuts off the option to choose. It's like if someone tells you how to send an email and explains you should select "compose" and when you do that the email system shuts down lol. Either way it's not a deal-breaker just nice to have when it was available and we get angry when something is available only to be gaslit by Apple at the next update. Ha.

Issue(s) with changing color w/ markup text block repeatedly encountered. Changing color of shapes worked once after adding shape but failed similarly as Text block trying to change/edit display features. Options move or blocked on screen and then disappear all together. Just noticed this same problem today. Have a very dark background image I need to put text over. The only color available is black and I cannot change it via any method. Can’t have black text over a dark image as it will just vanish.

I figured out how to change the text color circle Tap!

1-Add text

2-Double tap to select all text

3-Format

4-More

5-Select the color circle

6-Tap the screen to leave the color selection screen. 

7-While the Format menu is showing, single tap the text you want to edit. The other text edit bubble will appear. 

8-Select Aa 

9-Select your color

I am having the same issue unfortunately. Trying to markup a photo from my daughter’s candlelight vigil, and spread fentanyl awareness. Black on black just won’t cut it. Any other photo apps that anyone knows of that I can use to add lettering (in color) ? Thanks for any feedback!

I updated the iOS and now cannot change font or color in the mark up feature! I see this isn’t just one of MY favorite features, as this forum lists at least 198 others who edit their pictures on their phones and are now affected by this glitch. FIX THIS! Why offer updates that screw up existing feature? Also… why does auto correct replace a word ending in ‘s’ with the same word (singular), a SPACE and an ‘a’?!?!?!

Work around, highlight text and format, provides option of choosing a different text but color change does not hold, lag in response or doesn’t update at all.

As others pointed out, this a a direct result of 18.1 and .1 did not resolve. PLEASE fix so edit of text can be directly on photo, just like it was. Needed for watermarking photos, asap. Thanks

****** off… since I updated my phone, there’s a lot of new features that I don’t like!

when I edit my photos, I can’t even change the color. This is ******* me off big-time. Why didn’t I have an expensive phone and you can’t use it?

Right?! I used that. Not a lot but was nice to have.

I am unable to change the color or font when I use text in markup on photos. It closes the text box. It's so frustrating

Thank you for your help. It worked after I did it your way. 
However, this is only temporary and still needs a thorough handling from Apple.
