Warning asks to update and restart when switching on Apple TV using remote

Hi! When I switch on my Apple TV using the remote, I keep getting a warning saying that it needs to update and restart. However I cannot seem to navigate to the alert to press on it. Instead when I try to, it just moves about the apps on the screen behind the warning. If I turn the tv off and on again using the Apple Remote, the warning goes away. But appears the next time I switch it on. Please help!
