IOS 18.0.1 no mail notification tone

I upgraded to the iPhone 16 Pro and updated to ios 18.0.1. My Apple Mail app has been silent when I receive Mail, and it doesn't show the red status on the desktop icon that I have new mail. It still makes the swoosh sound when I send from the app. All Notifications are on. Volume is up. I deleted the Apple mail and added it back but no alerts and now sound. I went to Apps, mail, notification. Banner is set to Temporary; Sounds is showing the sound i selected and Badges is off. Lock Screen, Notifications and Banners are checked on. Allow notifications is also on. Does anyone have any thoughts? I also have the Gmail app as well, but I prefer the apple mail. Can this be the conflict?
