iPad iOS 18.0.1 Safari bookmarks on new tab

• After updating to iOS 18.0.1 on my iPad Air (5thGen), Safari now displays twice as many bookmark icons when I select a new tab. It is very difficult to locate the position of previous bookmark icon , since it is not in its original position. It’s also very distracting to see twice as many icons on a new tab. I’ve searched for ways to eliminate so many bookmarks, but have been unable to find a solution. Selecting “Show Less” is not the solution I’m seeking.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?
