iCloud on Desktop

I like to compile lists (e.g. shopping lists) by using Notes. But I do this on desktop since I find it faster to type and edit instead of doing so on my mobile. I then make use of the "list" function that gives me a small round circle which I can simply tick or untick. Lately the little round circle has been replaced with a small black box that doesn't show whether its ticked or unticked. This problem only appears on the desktop version and is still fine on my mobile. Can you please change it back to the way it was before?
