Getting Hotmail password error send/receive with Apple Mail

Sign into Hotmail on the net. If it works there then it's Mail and if it's Mail that is causing the problem, For Hotmail and Outlook email accounts use the Microsoft Exchange option on Mail on the Mac. On the iPhone and iPad use the Outlook.com option.
You could always try the Microsoft Exchange option on the the device rather than the Outlook. com option
Issue is on iPhone running IOS 17.7. Based on prior community suggestion I added Outlook. I was able to receive inbound messages via Apple mail app however I can’t send outbound emails via Apple mail app (reply, forward, blind copy, send). It results in the “Cannot Send Mail enter user id …”. Currently I’m forced to use Outlook to reply, forward or send mail.
Yuck using Microsoft products!
