iCloud crashes the moment I log in on my Mac book. I haven't been able to get on in months!

I prefer using iCloud for mail because the layout in the mail app just doesn't do it for any number of reasons. I came on the Apple community and although there are over four hundred people who are experiencing the same issues over a significant period of time, there are still no answers.
