Smart Playlists not working correctly in Apple Music app

I don’t know if it’s the Music app or if it’s a problem with my Mac, but Smart Playlists are no longer working properly. Since applying the MacOS Sonoma 14.6.1 update, new Smart Playlists both fail to create and Smart Playlist names cannot be edited.

I mistakenly thought updating to MacOS Sequoia would help, but if anything, it’s been made worse. Since then any Smart Playlist I create, whilst showing up on the main window area, is nowhere to be found in the sidebar. On the most recent occasion a new ripped cd didn’t even appear in the library. I had to manually import it.

I’m no techie, but I’ve been using Smart Playlists for many years and can navigate around Smart Playlist criteria settings comfortably.

Any help on what the cause is and how to solve it will be welcome.
