I used the notes app to scan documents all the time. The pdf generated would normally be kilobytes, occasionally get into a mb or two. Ever since I updated to iOS 18, the files are huge, 40,50,60 mb or more. Even when I compress the file it’s still 5-10mb. Any idea why these scans are suddenly huge and what can I do to get it back to what it was?

I think I found the difference. Everything is scanning in full color now. When I tried a 3 page test scan it came in at 4.4 MB. Then I found the Filters icon (three interlocking circles). When I changed it to Black & White it was 75 K, but looked awful. I changed ti to Grayscale and it was 631 K and look like it used to.
Try that and see what your milage is.

Never had issues until iOS 18 with scanning in color. Would have multiple pages and it would be kb’s. Now it’s 5-10mb for a couple scans.
Chose black and the quality is good, but the size is over 7 MB for 20 pages, so no solution for me.
Just upgraded to 18.2.1
made scans double bigger than 18.2

“I think…” did you test it? Did it work? Why would you say ‘I think’ if you’re not sure? Anyway, the new 18.2 DOES NOT WORK or fixed this issues.
Not Fixed. I updated and scanned one page and it was almost 4mb still.
This is ridiculous. Can't send more than one page. Had to use my wife's Android, which worked perfectly....and she let me know it, since I'm a big Apple guy. NEED A FIX
Same!! It is impossible to use the scanning option since the file is so heavy that it cannot go through any Chanel….
That’s not a fix. That’s forcing people to scan a different way.
I just scanned 11 pages using the method above and it was 3.5 MB

While the work around using files worked it's not practical as I use this for work. Too time consuming, do better Apple!!!!!
